Leanne Cherny

As a freelance casting agent, Leanne has implemented and managed casting campaigns, securing premium talent for projects including music theatre productions, television shows and major events.

​Carefully following the direction of the producing body, Leanne is uniquely equipped to uncover and secure the best possible talent for the roles, drawing upon her decades of performance experience to understand the intricate requirements of various performance platforms.

​Leanne is currently working with colleague, Rachael Rigg, to implement a state of the art bespoke casting system through the FileMaker platform. The casting system delivers a fully-customised and personal application and casting experience for agents, individuals and casting teams.

Leanne began as a Creative Producer in the events space, producing corporate pop-ups and fashion industry events. Also armed with decades of performance experience, Leanne played a pivotal role in the development of the groundbreaking motion-capture technology and its alliance with dance and movement in the feature film "Happy Feet", in her position as Associate Choreographer.

​Leanne later transitioned into larger-scale events including the 15th Asian Games Opening Ceremony and live broadcast award shows including the ARIA Awards and TV Week Logie Awards. 

 Most recently, in her role as Artistic Director across major Australian television programmes, The Voice Australia, The ARIA Awards, Dancing With the Stars, Australia's Next Top Model, Leanne has lead a team of creatives through the processes of artistic and creative direction, beginning with the initial concept, and journeying through budgets, builds, activation and performance.
